About Us

History And Locations

Ninja School is an extension of the massively popular 'Kung Fu Kindy' program you may have already heard of but importantly is designed for children in the 6-9 year age range.

Our program is a mixed martial art based on traditional Karate, and leads on to higher level adult programs as they come to age.  Some of the students are graduates of our younger and comprehensive 'Kung Fu Kindy' Program that are continuing their journey at a higher level.

In this program your child will learn the fundamentals in 9 specific areas over 8 months

Kicks, Striking, Blocks, Grab Defence, Fitness, Ground Defence, Stances, Falling/rolling, and Kata (Forms).

This gives them a rounded beginning to their martial arts entry which we incorporate with discipline, respect, focus and meditative training.

Once completed they can use their qualification to enter our higher level traditional Karate or Ninja Masters programs.

About the founders

Eddie Skerritt and Mark Lupo have extensive backgrounds in martial arts and fitness, with over 30 years of combined experience in training, exercise, and a variety of martial arts. Eddie’s background is primarily in Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-Do while Mark’s is in Kung Fu. We also have experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Taekwondo, Kali Silat and in professional health and fitness training. We also have a number of Kung Fu Kindy and Ninja School Certified instructors from a variety of martial arts backgrounds all with the common mission to introduce more children to martial arts. All your instructors at Ninja School are ‘Working with Children’ checked, keeping your children safe. We maintain the highest personal ethical standards and expect no less from our staff. Eddie’s daughter Scarlett (2.5 years) will be joining or Kung Fu Kindy program soon but is currently our treasured mascot ☺

What is our aim for your child?

Every child is unique, and one size does not fit every child. Our aim for your specific child will change as they go through the program. While many children are initially cautious stepping into a class, this quickly disappears as they begin to have fun. Over time they will develop and progress, and our trained staff will provide them with different obstacles to overcome as they progress. We can identify the precise stage of your child’s development, and we work with you to help your child advance to the next level, ultimately teaching them that all obstacles in life can be overcome with support, patience, and love.

What to expect from your child?

While some children take straight to class like a duck to water, some initially need a softer entry with care and attention. The only way a child can ultimately grow in confidence, is for them to face resistance and overcome it. The most common mistake many parents make, which is so easy to do, is seeing if their children enjoy an activity and if they don’t, just removing them out straight away. For most activities this is 100% a good way to go as you expose them to different stimuli and identify the ones that they resonate with most. And that is a good strategy. But with martial arts, the exact reason they are participating is to encounter some controlled resistance, all in an ultimately safe environment, so that when they are confronted with danger or bullying in the playground, or any physical or mental resistance in their development, they have already developed the skills to face that resistance head on and have the resiliency skills to conquer it as a habit. That is the true beauty of martial arts. It is the process including challenges that helps them build mental and physical strength for a life of success!
